Principal’s Report

DiscussionAction/next steps
  • EQAO Results Review
    • School trend is on par with board and province
    • In 5 of 6 areas Pleasantville results are comparable to board results
    • Both grade 3 and6 cohorts are small, even one poor performing child can swing results
    • Child is considered meeting standards at level3
    • Lots of discussion on results
    • Questions came up on why Fraser Institute has Pleasantville so poorly rated - school and board do not use this measure and can’t comment on it
    • Parents and Council want to help improve results however no consensus on how to do so. Can’t get access to raw data to see what help can be offered
    • Note - when EQAO came back after COVID it went online. Could be a challenge for Grade 3’s, with lack of ability to use computers for typing longer answers. Younger children sometimes rush as if they finish early get to play a game
    • This year school will write the exam on paper
